European Commission launches consultation on the Digital Networks Act (DNA) – VTKE contributes with a statement
11 July 2025 – The European Commission has launched a Call for Evidence regarding the planned Digital Networks Act (DNA).
The DNA is intended to redefine EU telecommunications regulation and aims to strengthen and improve the infrastructure for digital networks in the European internal market. It seeks to promote investment in high-speed networks, increase the resilience of infrastructure, and ensure equal access to digital services for all Europeans. In short, the DNA aims to prepare Europe for the digital future and improve connectivity within the internal market.
VTKE welcomes the inclusion of stakeholders and has submitted a comprehensive position paper in response to the Call for Evidence. In it, we advocate for strengthening competition and innovation, particularly in the European market for telecommunications end-user devices. This requires clear, unified regulatory frameworks that enable fair competition and secure market access. Simultaneously, we advocate for a technology-neutral and demand-oriented frequency policy that does not hinder, but actively promotes, innovation, especially in the area of WLAN technology. Only in this way can an open, competitive internal market for telecommunications end-user devices be created, strengthening consumer rights, improving competition, and promoting Europe’s digital sovereignty.
